ROLLS ROYCE FACTORY
An entire new factory has been tucked into the landscape on the edge of the Sussex Downs. Planning permission for the project was entirely dependent on the sustainability strategies for the site and Doug King provided advice on this as well as design for the building services. The solutions included natural ventilation, daylight, sustainable drainage, protection of groundwater and comprehensive management of wastes. The building complex was built within a gravel extraction site and a green roof, believed to be the largest in the UK, applied to maintain continuity of the landscape.
