Doug King’s practice, King Shaw Associates, undertakes engineering design for a wide variety of buildings. Doug plays a leading role in the development of the practice's work and also provides strategic consultancy on all aspects of sustainability and innovation in the built environment.

Doug is Visiting Professor of Building Physics at the University of Bath, championing environmental design in the Department of Architecture & Civil Engineering, developing new courses, lecturing and tutoring both architecture and civil engineering students. Doug also has an occasional visiting role at several other universities.

Doug is actively involved in research in many aspects of sustainable design and innovation. He publishes papers and articles and is a regular speaker at industry conferences on a wide range of topics from design case studies to discourses on the barriers to innovation in construction.

Doug is committed to the advancement of education in building environmental science, serving as a member of the RIBA Validation Panel, as an advisor to the Ove Arup Foundation and collaborating with the Royal Academy of Engineering in research into building physics education.
